Abstract:

An adult female gorilla died following a 13-day illness and was necropsied. Gross and microscopic findings included a 2-cm straw deep in the external auditory meatus, suppurative otitis media and interna, and suppurative meningoencephalitis. Proteus mirabilis was cultured from the internal acoustic pore.
