Human Uniqueness Compared to "Great Apes":
Relative Difference
MOCA Topic Authors:

Skeletal muscles are involved in the movement of the bones and the body. In relation to humans, great apes appear to have much stronger skeletal muscles. For example, chimpanzees' skeletal muscles are said to be up to four times stronger than that of comparably sized humans. Also, it takes several healthy young men to hold down a single adult ape that is physically smaller. The extent to which some of these differences are based on biomechanical considerations is unclear.
