Lawrence Grossman

Lawrence I. Grossman is Henry L. Brasza Professor of Molecular Medicine and Genetics and Director of the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics, Wayne State University School of Medicine. His research focuses on the electron transport chain, specifically the molecular genetics, pathophysiology, and evolution of mitochondrial energetics. His major areas of emphasis are the regulation and function of nuclear-encoded subunits of cytochrome c oxidase, and their molecular evolution in anthropoid primates. His current work focuses on retrograde regulation of stress response via a pair of proteins that function together in both the nucleus and the mitochondria. He serves on the editorial board of Mitochondrion and is President of the Mitochondrial Research Society.
